Animal Welfare Resources in the Austin area:

Emancipet. Low cost/free spay neuter services as well as low cost wellness services. Emancipet is dedicated to stopping animal homelessness before it starts.

Animal Trustees of Austin. Low cost spay/neuter services, low cost wellness services as well as low cost medical treatment such as heartworm treatment.  ATA’s mission is to promote and ensure humane treatment, compassion, and respect for animals.

Austin Humane Society. Providing FREE spay/neuter for feral cats.  This is a great service to save thousands of lives. If you have a community cat colony in your area visit their website to learn how you can help.

Austin Pets Alive. This amazing group’s mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals. They pull from the kill list at Austin and surrounding shelters.  They are ALWAYS in need of foster homes to help save lives.

Austin Rescue. A comprehensive list of Austin and surrounding area rescue groups as well as a great resource for pet owners, rescue groups, and adopters, including LOST PET INFO and Links.

Austin animal advocacy and animal rescueLove-A-Bull. Austin’s leading bullie breed resource. Love-A-Bull was organized to educate and to advocate on behalf of the American Pit Bull Terrier, the American Staffordshire Terrier, the Staffordshire Terrier, and Bull Terrier (all breeds commonly referred to as “pit bulls”) and pit bull mixes. The mission of Love-A-Bull is to promote responsible ownership and improve the image of pit bulls through education and advocacy in the community.

Friends of Austin Animal Center. A great organization formed to bridge the gap between what the city budget funds and the needs of our city’s shelter. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life for animals both inside and outside the shelter, through community awareness, education, and mental and physical wellness programs.

FixAustin is a compassionate collection of animal rescuers, animal foster parents, shelter volunteers, and animal lovers who advocate for a better future for Austin’s lost and homeless pets!  This is a great resource for trusted information on local and national animal issues.

Animal Issues Forum. Dedicated to Austin animal issues.  Another superb local animal issue resource. Learn how you can help Austin’s animals by attending an Animal Issues Forum meeting.
